regykenWORKSHOP ON LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT FOR ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND SELF-RELIANCE

From Tuesday 18/10/2011 to Thursday 20/10/2011, some of our Confreres were warmly welcomed to the workshop organized by the Kenyan newly elected Regional Council. The workshop was held in the compound of Holy Trinity Church (Kileleshwa) and was facilitated by the brothers and Sisters from Accomplishment of Great Vision which is a Non-profit making Franciscan Development Initiative. Just to mention, the participants were Kenyan Regional Council members; all the Confreres in the charge of the Parishes within our property or entrusted to us by the local ordinaries; all the Rectors of our Seminaries; all those in charge of our Institutions of learning; those in charge of our Charitable Institutions; those in charge of our Missionary and Vocation promotion; those in charge of our Spiritual and rest houses; and lastly those in charge of our Regional Offices.

The motive of the workshop was threefold:

  1. To recognize and acknowledge the importance of the responsibility and role each one of them holds within the region and to give a chance to interact with each other so that they can create a strong bond of collaboration and working relationship.

  2. To give each one of them an opportunity to acquire new skills from the facilitators so that they may start thinking differently in the way they live the religious life and carry out the missionary responsibilities and seek best ways to govern, and manage our local communities, and share major challenges that may be a threat to our religious life and missionary work within the region.

  3. Having been provoked by the inputs of the facilitators, their own individual ideas and ideas that will be generated from group sharing; they should be ready to outline the major needs of our region and propose workable solutions that will help us improve our religious life and engage ourselves in the new evangelization according to the signs of the time.

“ I am optimistic that the proposals we came up with and the strategies we developed at the end of this forum will assist the regional Council to plan the way forward for the region that will guarantee improvement of our religious life, better governance of the region, good management of our human and material resources, and generate insights for the future development and prosperity of our region as per the aspirations of our XII General Chapter”, said Fr. Joya Hieronymus, Imc, Regional Superior.
