jeanmameruOn June 23, 2011, it was the joy of the Consolata Fathers, Sisters, Rt. Rev. Salesius Mugambi (Bishop of Meru), diocesan Priests of Meru, other religious Congregations members and other Faithful from several parishes and Visitors to be welcomed at Mujwa Parish for the celebrations of Our Lady and Mother Consolata, St Joseph Cafasso, Blessed Joseph Allamano, our Founder and lastly the Centenary of the Consolata Missionaries presence in Meru Diocese. It was precisely in Mujwa and Igoji Parishes where the first Missions initiated in 1911. The celebration was adorned with the feast of the Jubilarians of Consolata Fathers and Sisters. Who were they, the Jubilarians? On the side of the IMC Jubilarians of this year 2011, we did have Confreres of 50th Anniversary of Religious Profession: Frs. Aldo Giuliani; Orazio Mazzucchi; Egidio Pedenzini; Giovanni Gasparini; Eugenio Ferrari; Fiorenzo Canzian. Those of 25th Anniversary of Religious Profession: Frs. Joseph Waithaka; Joakim Kamau; Paskal Baylon Libana. The one of 70th Anniversary of Religious Profession: Fr. Antonio Bianchi and of 60th Anniversary of Religious Profession: Bishop Ambrogio Ravasi; and Fr. Armando Camillo for 60th Anniversary of Ordination. Lastly we had Fr. John Peter Njoroge for 25th Anniversary of Ordination. On the side of Consolata Sisters, we did have Sister Adeliana Fregonese for 60 years of Religious Profession; Sister Vincent Favero for 50 Years of Religious Profession; Sister Gian Enrica Marcandalli for 60 years of Mission and lastly Sister Gaudiosa Bernardi for 50 years of Mission. The celebrations embarked on at 10:30 am with the Holy Mass, presided over by Bishop Ambrogio Ravasi and concelebrated by Bishop of Meru Diocese, Salesius Mugambi and more than 30 Priests, Diocesans and some Imc included. It was nice to see such a number of Bishops and Priests in procession towards the Church. I personally and immediately recalled the day that Cardinals started the Conclave in which they elected the current Pope, Benedict XVI. In his homily, Bishop Ravasi invited all of us Consolata Missionaries to celebrate these above-mentioned feasts with happiness. He then entrusted all of us to God under Loving Care of our Lady, Consolata and through intercessions of St Joseph Cafasso and Blessed Joseph Allamano. It was absolutely wonderful celebration. The Eucharistic celebration finished around 13:25 pm. It was immediately followed by a drama about the first contact of the first Consolata Missionaries with the local people. The drama was interpreted by a group of Mujwa Parish Christians supported by Fr. Rituerto Urrejola Enrique (Parish Priest). With it in mind, we could not go back to our respective places without tasting a very nice smell of food which was coming from the kitchen. It was the time of festive meal. We ate, drank and thanked the Lord. Congratulations to the IMC community of Mujwa Parish and Meru animation and vocation coordinator, Fr. Simon Tshiani for mutual collaboration about the success of these Feasts. Those Confreres of ours deserve to receive claps from us. Everything went on well and all the Confreres, Sisters and Visitors were leaving Mujwa Parish with smile at their faces to communicate that they were delighted. This is exactly the message of love among us, missionary zeal... that our Founder, Joseph Allamano left and is present in the book: ‘Cosi vi voglio’.
