On 18th of June 2011, some of the Consolata Missionaries in Kenya joined Deacon Michael Miriti for his priestly ordination. The celebration happened at Tigania Catholic Parish in Meru Diocese. Tigania is located 18kms South of Meru Town. The Holy Mass was presided over by His Lorship Salesius Mugambi, the Bishop of Meru and concelebrated by 13 Diocesans priests and some of us Consolata Missionaries:
Fr. Tobias Oliveira (The representative of the Regional Superior) and the following priests: Fathers Geoffrey Kiria (Congo Region in Kenya for documents), Simon Wambue, Nicholas Makau, Stephen Mugo, Friedrick Ndirangu, John Mugambi, Lorenzo Gomez, Zanatta Alberico, Mazzucchi Orazio, Ruiz Manzanedo Gumersindo, Michael Wamunyu, Simon Tshiani, Jean-Marie Bilwala-Kabesa and Deacon Stephen Mutuku. The IMC presence was also noticed by Sister Marta MUNISH (One of the Consolata Sisters in charge of Animation and Vocation in Meru Diocese) and the following students of Allamano Theological seminary: Denis Mwenda, Dawit Daniel, Timothy Kinyua, Deo Mugo, Walta Kisikwa, Joseph Omollo, John Okello and Jonah Makau. The Eucharistic Celebration started at 11:12 am and finished at 15:48 p.m. It was a colorful celebration, animated by two well-organized choirs of Tigania Parish and of Runogone-Meru Town. In his homily, Bishop Salesius Mugambi did not miss any opportunity to thank God for the presence of Consolata Missionaries in his Diocese and their outstanding work. He then, invited priests to also take into account the pastoral of Schools which is an important aspect of evangelization in Meru Diocese. He invited the new ordained, Fr. Michael Miriti to be a Christian leader wherever he will be. In few words, a Christian leader is a Servant. Before the blessing, on behalf of the IMC Kenyan region Fr. Tobias also thanked God for the blessing of the new priest in our family. He lastly informed the assembly about the appointment of Fr. Michael Miriti. He has been appointed for further studies in “Justice and Peace” in Kenya. The Church was full, full and full of people who came from different places of Kenya to join our Confrere Michael Miriti. After the Holy Mass, we were all invited for a well prepared and organized lunch. Please, find below a brief idea about our Confrere Michael Miriti. Fr. Michael Muriti joined the Consolata Missionary Congregation after completing his secondary school in 2001 for propaedeutic year in Consolata Seminary Langata. He started his philosophical studies at the Consolata Institute of Philosophy from August 2002 and graduated in May of the year 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and a Diploma in religious studies. In July 2005, he joined Novitiate at Sagana and did his first religious profession on July 15, 2006. Between 2006 and 2010, he did his B.A. in Theology at Tangaza College. After his theological studies, he was sent for the year of service in Likoni Parish Archdiocese of Mombasa from February 2010 to August the same year. From Likoni he was transferred to Gatunga mission in the diocese of Meru where he has been working till April 2011. Fr. Michael Miriti took his final profession an October 29, 2010 and he was ordained deacon on October 30, 2010 at Consolata Shrine Westlands by Rt. Rev. Virgilio Pante, Bishop of Maralal.
