On 8^th of January 2011, we were all delighted to attend the priestly ordination of one of our Confreres, Clement Kinyua Gachoka. He is a Kenyan from Nyeri Archdiocese, particularly from KARIKO St Peter and Paul Parish that is situated at 140 kms from Nairobi. He did his philosophical studies in Kenya, novitiate in Sagana (Kenya) and theological studies in Colombia. After accomplishing his theological studies, Fr. Clement Kinyua Gachoka was sent to Ecuador for the pastoral experience. The Eucharistic Celebration was presided over by his Grace Peter Kairu, the Archbishop of Nyeri and concelebrated by a good number of local priests and the following IMC Fathers: Franco Cellana, Brambilla Luigi, Kamau Joachim, Maina Ngatia Paul (Colombia region on holidays), M’nthaka Kennedy Kimathi (Colombia region on holidays), Wanjuku Gitonga Mark, Mukalazi Kizito, Gichane James, Oluoch Martin, Tshiani Thimbombo Simon, Ngaba Moke Arthur, Jean-Marie Bilwala and Deacon Ngigi David. The Mass started at 10:30 am and finished around 13:30 pm. I was personally happy to realize that during his homely, the Archbishop Peter Kairu invited Fr. Clement to learn the culture because it will help him to convey God’s message and to communicate effectively with South Koreans. These mean learning the South Korean language; understand their beliefs and so on. Before the last blessing, Fr. Franco Cellana firstly thanked the Almighty God for the gift of the new Priest in our Congregation. Then, he offered Fr. Clement Kinyua Gachoka a Bible, Mass-kit and asked the Lord to bless Fr. Clement in his life. In the end, on behalf of the IMC General Direction, Fr. Franco Cellana informed the entire assembly about the appointment of Fr. Clement. He has been sent to serve as missionary in South Korea. After the Mass, we were cordially welcomed for fraternal sharing: lunch.
